Even if you don’t know Roman numerals, have never spliced an 8-track tape, and don’t know the thrill of handling a new LP carefully by its edges, you will enjoy the music featured on this site. Taking our name from a song on Eric Burdon’s 2013 album Till Your River Runs Dry, we review albums released within the last year by artists who have been around for at least twenty years, though we often choose those who have been in the business for thirty or forty years. We then choose an album from that artist’s back catalogue to review by way of comparison.
Our “A-sides” section features shorter notes about artists, movies, or cultural phenomena from years past, all somehow connected with music. Our “Newer Bands That Don’t Sound Bad” section intends to introduce readers to artists whose music has strong ties of one sort or another to the great sounds of the past. And our “Interviews” section features discussions with artists who deserve a wider audience or who may not have been in the news much lately.
